Roberto Faria will join Carlin’s 2022 GB3 line-up the team is pleased to announce. The 18-year-old Brazilian will contest his second full season in the British Championship having already claimed several podiums and a race win in the series.

Faria began his car racing career in the UK in 2019 with a season in British F4 where he got to grips with not only the F4 car but also the challenging British circuits.  A part season in British F4 combined with BRDC British F3 in 2020 produced podiums in both as the young Brazilian learnt his craft.

Remaining in British F3 in 2021 which would be re-brandedGB3 mid-season, Faria claimed a total of nine podiums including a win at the prestigious Spa-Francorchamps circuit to finish fifth in the championship standings.  Remaining in the championship for 2022, the series title is the aim for the Rio de Janeiro born racer.

The GB3 Championship will feature a new car this season, with the Tatuus MSV-022 featuring the halo, improved impact protection, greater downforce and an upgraded Mountune engine producing 250bhp at 8500 rpm.  The new car will also feature a side air-intake box reminiscent of the traditional British F3 cars of the past.

Speaking about the season ahead, Faria said, “I can’t wait to get the 2022 GB3 Championship underway with Carlin; I know that we will be able to fight together to be race winners and title contenders. I’m really looking forward to racing with the new chassis and I believe my experience in the championship so far will mean that we are able start the year off in a strong position and continue to build from there. I’d like to thank the team and my sponsors for the opportunity – I can’t wait to get going on our test programme.”

Trevor Carlin added, “We’ve raced against Roberto for a few years now so we’re well aware of his potential. As a race winner already in GB3he clearly has the talent and speed to be fighting at the front.  The new car will be a new challenge for all the drivers but with his experience I’d expect Roberto to adapt quickly. I’ve no doubt that he will be a great asset to the team this season.”

Faria will test with the team in the coming weeks ahead of the season opener at Oulton Park in April.
